The Challenge

Mitsubishi approached us to create a secure, bespoke intranet to bring together information stored across different systems, including SharePoint. Their teams were spread across multiple offices and countries, and it had become increasingly difficult to access content in one central place.

The company already had internal design and content teams, so our role was to handle the technical build and integration. The challenge was to create something that fitted seamlessly within Mitsubishi’s strict IT setup, while offering a clean, familiar experience for staff across all regions.

We've worked with Mitsubishi for over ten years on a range of projects, so we had a strong understanding of their processes and expectations. When the intranet was first built, it had to fully support Internet Explorer 9, which required careful optimisation to meet corporate IT policies at the time. As their systems evolved, we upgraded the intranet to work on all modern browsers and later made it fully mobile-friendly.

Our Approach

The intranet was built completely from scratch, shaped around Mitsubishi’s requirements rather than an off-the-shelf template. We worked closely with their designer throughout the build, ensuring every element functioned as intended while maintaining a polished, consistent look.

It acts as a central hub, pulling together content from different locations, and automatically logs users in based on their location. This means each region sees relevant news, updates, and resources specific to their office. For selected users outside these regions, the system functions more like an extranet, allowing secure remote access.

Over time, we’ve continued refining and expanding the platform to keep pace with changing technology and company needs.

The Results

The intranet has become a vital communication tool for Mitsubishi’s teams. It allows quick access to news, documents, and updates while ensuring each region sees information tailored to them. Staff can log in without hassle, and administrators can publish updates instantly across offices.

Feedback has been consistently positive, with users praising its simplicity and reliability. Mitsubishi’s internal teams also value the flexibility to post location-specific updates, highlight important announcements, and share documents without IT assistance.

Long-Term Impact

More than a decade on, the intranet continues to evolve alongside Mitsubishi’s digital infrastructure. It has streamlined communication between teams, reduced duplicated content, and made company-wide information easier to manage.

Our long relationship with Mitsubishi reflects our focus on building long-term, collaborative partnerships. The intranet project shows how a fully bespoke approach can deliver a platform that adapts, improves, and remains valuable well beyond its original launch.
