The Challenge

Supporting Wounded Veterans is a UK charity helping former servicemen and women rebuild their lives after injury. When they came to us, their old website had become cluttered, dated, and difficult for users to navigate. Veterans struggled to find the information they needed, and supporters often found it confusing to donate or get involved.

The charity’s digital presence didn’t reflect the scale or warmth of their work. They needed a site that could communicate their mission clearly, inspire trust, and make it simple for people to take action, whether that meant donating, volunteering, or seeking help.

Our Approach

We started by mapping out user journeys through detailed wireframes and mockups. This helped us understand exactly how people used the site and where frustrations occurred. Working closely with the SWV team, we focused on improving the flow of information and creating a calmer, more intuitive structure that guided visitors naturally towards what they were looking for.

The design uses authentic photography and clean layouts to reflect the charity's honesty and compassion. We placed clear calls to action throughout the site, ensuring that every visitor can quickly donate, learn more, or get support. Accessibility was built into every stage, making sure the experience worked well for everyone, including veterans with mobility or visual impairments.

We built the new site on a secure and flexible CMS, allowing SWV’s team to update news, events, and campaigns easily. This means they can keep the website fresh without relying on developers for everyday updates.

The Results

The new website has completely transformed the charity’s digital presence. It's easier for veterans to find the support they need, and much simpler for donors and partners to get involved. The improved structure and design have boosted engagement across all areas, while the streamlined donation process has helped increase contributions.

Internally, the team can now manage their own content quickly and confidently. The focus on performance and accessibility has also improved visibility in search results, helping SWV reach more people who can benefit from their work.

Long-Term Impact

Since launch, the site has become a key part of the charity's communication and fundraising efforts. It continues to grow as new initiatives, events, and partnerships are added, serving as a central hub for both awareness and action.

For us, it was a privilege to help such an important organisation tell its story online. The project shows how thoughtful design and strong UX can make a real difference, helping a charity connect more effectively with the people it supports and those who want to support it.
