Building a Connected Workplace: A Modern Intranet for Tuckwells

The Challenge

Tuckwells Group approached us to build a bespoke extranet that would make it easier for staff to find the information they need, wherever they are. Their existing SharePoint setup had become difficult to use. Staff often struggled to locate the right content, while administrators found the interface limiting and frustrating.

They wanted something modern, secure, and flexible - a system that looked great, worked smoothly, and truly reflected the company's community-focused culture. The goal was to give staff quick access to essential resources, improve communication across branches, and create a sense of connection through shared updates, competitions, and social features.

Our Approach

We designed and built a custom extranet powered by our own CMS, developed entirely around Tuckwells' requirements. Unlike off-the-shelf platforms, this solution gave administrators full control over how information is presented. They can easily customise layouts, highlight key updates, and prioritise what users see first.

From the user's point of view, the extranet feels simple, fast, and familiar. Staff can quickly find what they're looking for, whether they're in the office, out on-site, or working remotely. Social media feeds and internal competitions were added to strengthen engagement and help staff feel part of a wider community, not just a workforce.

Security was a major focus from the start. Each user account includes two-factor authentication for added protection, alongside secure access controls to ensure only authorised staff can view or manage content.
